Velvet Spice Cake


Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 3 eggyolks
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 3 eggwhites
  • 1/8 tsp. cream of tartar

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggyolks and continue beating. Add flour and spices alternately with milk beating after each addition. In another bowl beat eggwhites with cream of tartar until stiff peaks. Fold in meringue into batter. Bake in greased pan at 350 degrees F. for 50-60 minutes or until done.
