Pizza Pie


Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup likewarm water
  • 1 1/2 tsp. yeast
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tbsp. oil
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • SAUCE:
  • 2 tbsp. oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, pounded
  • 1/4 cup onions, minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • salt, vetsin to taste
  • dash of pepper, oregano, basil

Instructions

  1. Measure lukewarm water in bowl. Add sugar and yeast. Stir and let stand until foamy. Stir in oil and salt. Add 1 cup flour and let rise for 15 minutes. Add rest of flour and knead until smooth and elastic. Grease hands if dough becomes sticky. Form into a ball and place in a greased bowl. Cover with a damp cloth. Let rise in a warm place utnil double in bulk. Punch down. Divide into two. Spread out in two 12 inch pizza pan. Bake until half done at 350 degrees F. about 15 to 20 minutes.
  2. Sauce:
  3. Saute garlic and onions in oil. Add tomato sauce and water. Season to taste. Simmer for 10 miutes. When done place sauce in half-baked crust. Top with desired filling and bake 10-15 minutes.
  4. Suggested Filling:
  5. Salami, hotdog, chinese sausage, sardines, bacon and others topped with onion rings, pepper rings, sliced mushrooms, sliced mozzarella cheese or grated chedaar cheese.
